We will teach you how to stay warm, and we will be prepared for all weather conditions. Average temperatures this time of year are about 50s-60s and partly cloudy, with intermittent rain showers, dropping into the 40s at night at higher elevations.

  • Aside from the skills, fun, and memories you gain on this adventure, this is overall a life changing experience and challenge from the first financial investment until the day you leave here. What you learn through challenging yourself and saying YES to an opportunity like this, carries on through your life. You create connections and friendships, you rediscover yourself, you reconnect with the closest people around you, and refocus on what truly matters.

You make the best memories, learn to say yes to the things you want to do, disconnect from the chaos of the world around you, and really truly remember what life is all about.

  • Most everything and all camping gear will be provided, you will bring your own clothing and boots (waterproof leather hiking boots, rain gear, puffies, base layers) and toiletries.

See “alaska gear packing list” tab for more.

  • 25% non-refundable deposit is due upfront and the remaining 75% will be due by July 1st, 2024.

I can also set up any payment plan that works for you. This allows ample time to book flights, make reservations, and order food and gear ahead of time which can take months in bush Alaska!

  • Ability to hike at least 5 miles off trail carrying at least a 20 lb pack. Some previous outdoor expedition or backpacking experience is helpful, though you can also learn and don’t need to be an expert. You need a passion or desire to be in the wilderness, prep beforehand with some hiking, and we can also help you prepare for the experience !

  • We have had people join from their early 20s to 60s. Age is really just a number. 18 minimum age for the women’s retreat (adults only).

It is more about if you’re capable, willing, and excited to do these experiences. It is never too early or too late to live life! For family retreats, any age is welcome, even children.

  • While at our campsite, we will have no electricity, no cell reception, and no running water facilities. We will be several hundred flying miles from the nearest hospital, but we are wilderness first responder certified. We will provide a toileting area in the woods with toilet paper and wipes! Once back in King Salmon we will have cell reception, electricity, and running water facilities (including showers) at the lodge.

  • “Strength” is a relative term. Your mindset is the most powerful tool. You do not have to be the strongest, baddest, fastest person and at your absolute best to do this.

We have had all ages from very fit people to even pregnant women! (though it is not suggested to come here while you are pregnant due to no hospitals nearby)

  • Nothing is guaranteed. We plan on having retreats in coming years, but there is no guarantee as things change year to year!

Make “one day” DAY ONE by taking the jump!

Stay up to date on @bristolbayretreats Instagram page and dates will be kept updated on this website as well.

  • A 25% non-refundable deposit down is required to secure your spot. No cancellations or refunds will be offered for this retreat. If for any reason there is an emergency or someone cannot make a retreat, your deposit can be applied to a future retreat, but this must be arranged with Tana.

This is a life changing experience & opportunity to commit and challenge yourself mentally to do hard things. The first step to that is committing to yourself, mentally and financially to this experience, and not allow your mind to talk you out of it.

HOSTED BY TANA GRENDA

I live in remote southwest Alaska with my husband and 6 kids.

I hear hundreds of times every year about how I am living everyone's dream.

I cannot disagree! Flying into the remote wilderness to disconnect has been my sanctuary in the chaotic world we live in, but wild Alaska can be intimidating and unforgiving at times. There are many skills to learn and be trained on in order to thrive and survive in mother nature. I wanted women to experience the best parts of bush Alaska, gain confidence in all of the wilderness skills they need, and reconnect with themselves again in a safe space.

So, I created an experience that encompassed all of this. I brought the Wild Women’s Wilderness Retreat to life to take women who thought they could never experience Alaska in this way, and fly out and live with me for a week in the bush.

We believe in the power of getting more women outdoors and learning to say YES to the adventures they want to do.

We will be based out of King Salmon Alaska and after a few lodge days and training here, we will fly into our remote destination, camping for 3-4 days where there are no roads and no cell service. The only way in and out is in Alaska's most iconic bush planes. This is where you’re truly able to disconnect from the stressful world, find yourself again, say yes to the things you want to do, connect with nature, and find your tribe of other like minded women.

During your time here, you’ll experience world class experiences from scenic float plane flights, fly fishing, salmon fishing, brown bear viewing, backpacking, camping, and shooting. More importantly, we will teach you wilderness skills and challenge you to shift your mindset to handle any situation the outdoors and life will throw your way.

One of the most rewarding parts for me is to see multiple different women come from all over the world and all walks of life, jump into this retreat as strangers, and leave as lifelong friends.

  • LINDSAY PERSICO

    CO-HOST, MENTOR

I am an assistant health, fitness and nutrition coach with Bristol Bay Fitness. I live in Montana with my husband and three kids. My passion is outdoor adventure and solo hunting. I love to help people find their healthiest and fittest version of themselves while prioritizing the importance of mental health. I won a survival challenge that aired on the History Channel called Alone The Beast where I spent 30 days in the arctic with nothing but a dead moose and the clothes on my back. I am excited to help other women find their confidence in the outdoors.

  • APRIL CHRISTMAN

    LIFE COACH, MENTOR

I am a Life Coach with Bristol Bay Fitness that specializes in mental health. My passion is helping people; to be alongside a person in their journey of life and to offer support, encouragement and guidance. I personally went through a primitive wilderness program as a client in my early 20’s and then returned there to work for several years. I learned map/compass skills, how to make fire with a bow drill set, use a tarp and p-cord for both my backpack and shelter all while counseling troubled youth as a chief field instructor.

  • CARLY PADRTA

PHOTOGRAPHER- Hi there! My name is Carly. I am an outdoor brand and lifestyle photographer located on the Kenai Peninsula in the beautiful state of Alaska. I came up to Alaska in 2018 for what I thought would simply be a halibut fishing trip. After visiting I quickly fell in love and officially got to call the Last Frontier home in 2019.

My passion for the outdoors started young - primarily with fishing, snowboarding, and kayaking. Now, living in an area that’s literally nicknamed “Alaska’s Playground” I have learned that the adventure possibilities are nearly endless here. With that, I have gotten to expand my outdoor experiences well beyond what I ever dreamed venturing more into backcountry hiking, food foraging, snowmachining, and more. I use much of my personal photography to help tell the stories behind the adventures I pursue. In all, I hope it inspires others to also embrace the natural beauty around them.

My appreciation for all things wild runs deep. I am so grateful to be able to share that love with not only the family I have built in Alaska but also all whom I have connected with through my social media - and now with Bristol Bay Retreats.

HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF Our Partners! WE COULD NOT DO THIS WITHOUT THEIR SUPPORT
